HSL tendered Tuusula bus services, contracts awarded to Pohjolan Liikenne and Reissu Ruoti

This summer, HSL tendered Tuusula bus services for the first time. Contracts for the services were awarded to Oy Pohjolan Liikenne Ab and Bus Travel Oy Reissu Ruoti.

The competitive bidding included 12 routes. From the beginning of 2018, Pohjolan Liikenne will operate route 962 and 962K and from June 2018 routes 632, 635, 963 and 963K.

Reissu Ruoti will operate route 65 and its route versions A, B, K and T from the beginning of 2018.

HSL tendered the bus services for the first time because Tuusula will become a member of the joint local authority at the beginning of 2018. HSL will assume responsibility for the organization and planning of public transport services in Tuusula. Currently, bus services in Tuusula are organized by the Uusimaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.

The services tendered are operated with seven buses. According to HSL’s requirements, the buses must be equipped with air-conditioning, camera surveillance and safety cabins. In addition, the buses have an automatic fire extinguishing system and driving style monitoring system.

The routes contracted to Reissu Ruoti will be operated with mini-buses with 16 seats. The buses are new MiniB vehicles. Pohjolan Liikenne will be operating the services with two axle buses with 40 seats.

In total eight bus operators submitted their bids for the services tendered. The bids were compared according to the tendering principles approved by the HSL Executive Board to ascertain the most economically advantageous tender.
