HSL is conducting passenger counts on Flirt trains

HSL will be conducting passenger counts on Helsinki region
commuter train services between 25 February and 15 March.

The counts are conducted on Flirt trains Monday-Friday
between 7am and 6pm, and they will not cause any inconvenience or
delays to passengers.

The total commuter train ridership statistics are produced on
the basis of samples collected using automated passenger counting
devices. Because only a number of commuter trains are equipped with
counting devices, HSL and VR have developed a statistical method to
compensate the non-response from the train services for which count
data is not available.

Flirt trains are the newest additions to the commuter train
rolling stock in the Helsinki region. The first blue-green-white
Flirt train entered into service in November 2009 and the second in
December 2009. At the moment, a total of 22 Flirt trains are
operating in the Helsinki region.
