How the changes affect the HSL app
The changes mean that, in a few weeks time, card payments in the HSL app may require strong customer authentication, as determined by your bank. The bank decides when strong customer authentication is required. Contact your bank for more information about card payments.
Strong customer authentication in the HSL app will be introduced in the near future. We will inform customers when the new app version is available.
There will be no changes to mobile payments on the app, i.e. tickets charged to customers’ phone bills. Single tickets available via the app are also available from ticket machines, HSL service points, R-kiosks and other sales points as well as with the HSL card.
New European Payment Services Directive (PSD2)
The changes are due to the new European Payment Services Directive, PSD2, which aims to improve the security of card payments. The directive entails that banks must require strong customer authentication for card payments. The authentication is made using online banking credentials or fingerprint, for example. Contact your bank for more information.
