Changes to bus timetables in Sipoo on 15 September

A new bus route network was introduced in Sipoo on 11 August. The rearrangements require further efforts to provide effective bus services serving the customers' needs as well as possible. Changes to the timetables are now made on the basis of feedback from passengers and the operator, within the limits of resources available.

Needs for possible further changes will be studied during the autumn once we see how the new timetables work.  All changes are made at the same time  so that it is easier to inform passengers about the changes. Changes to timetables are published on HSL's website, on the website of the municipality of Sipoo and there are also bulletins on buses.

The first changes to timetables will take effect on Monday 15 September.  The changes are made to address the problems with keeping to the timetables and making transfers.

New services introduced

The number of bus services increased on many routes thanks to the reorganization of the route network as the connections with transfers allow the evening and weekends services to be organized in a financially sustainable way. Internal connections within the municipality improved significantly and the so called school bus routes can be utilized more effectively than before also for commuting. Bus services in Talma and Eriksnäs increased substantially.  New services were introduced also to Gumbostrand, Kalkkiranta and Spjutsund.

A new feeder route 841 runs between Söderkulla and Itäkeskus. Passengers traveling between Nikkilä and downtown Helsinki now need to changes from bus (985) to train in Kerava in the evenings and on weekends. However, direct night buses continue to run on Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday nights. The connection with transfer enables longer operating hours and better service frequency. For example, on Sundays there were four services from Nikkilä to Helsinki prior the rearrangement; now there are ten services from Nikkilä to Helsinki via Kerava.
