On New Year’s Eve, a Saturday service will operate and on New Year’s Day, a Sunday service will operate. The Metro will run three hours longer than usual and there will be additional bus and commuter train services on New Year’s night.
In addition, some bus and tram routes will be diverted in downtown Helsinki due to the Finland 100 Grand Opening party held at Kansalaistori and its surroundings. The Eliel Square (Elielinaukio) bus terminal will be closed from 8pm to 2am and Mannerheimintie will be closed to traffic between Arkadiankatu and Runeberginkatu.
Diversions to bus routes
Bus routes 40, 43 and 63: These Helsinki internal buses will run to Kamppi and leave from bay 70 on Runeberginkatu. The buses will run along Mannerheimintie and Runeberginkatu from 8pm to 2am.
Routes 218 231N, 235, 235N, 321, 321N, 322, 345N 411, 415, 415N, 421, 431, 431N, 436 and 436N: These regional buses will run to Hakaniemi and leave from the Hakaniemi bus stop 2502 on Hakaniemen torikatu. The buses will run to Hakaniemi along Mannerheimintie, Helsinginkatu, Wallininkatu and Toinen linja. Leaving from Hakaniemi, the buses will run along Eläintarhantie. NB! The buses will not serve the bus stops located on Siltasaarenkatu in Hakaniemi in the direction of Hämeentie. The diversion will be in place from 8pm to 2am.
Routes 20N and 21V: Postikatu will be closed to traffic from about 9pm and bus routes 20N and 21V to Lauttasaari will leave from the terminal for bus routes to Espoo in Kamppi. The buses will leave from bay 43 from 9pm to 2am.
Route 39N: Postikatu will be closed to traffic and the bus will leave from bay 76 on Fredrikinkatu from midnight to 2am.
U line buses 280, 355T 455, 456, 457, 465, 640 and 848: The buses will leave from the Kamppi long-distance bus terminal as usual but they will run via Runeberginkatu from 8pm to 2am.
In addition, the 4am service on route 280 from Kamppi will run along Eteläinen Rautatiekatu, Arkadiankatu, Runeberginkatu, Topeliuksenkatu and Haartmaninkatu to its normal route.
On route 456, the 2.10am and 3.35am services from Kamppi will run along Eteläinen Rautatiekatu, Arkadiankatu, Runeberginkatu and Topeliuksenkatu to the normal route. The 2.45am service from Klaukkala will use its normal route and then run along Runeberginkatu to Eteläinen Rautatienkatu.
On route 848, the 2.18am and 3.18am services from Kamppi will run along Eteläinen Rautatiekatu, Arkadiankatu, Runeberginkatu, Topeliuksenkatu and Nordenskiöldinkatu to the normal route. The 1.15am and 2.15am services from Porvoo will use their normal route and then run along Runeberginkatu to Eteläinen Rautatienkatu.
Diversions to tram routes
Trams 4, 7A, 7B and 10 will run via Arkadiankatu and Runeberginkatu from 8pm to the end of service. There will be additional services on route 10B between Kolmikulma and Kuusitie from 10pm to 1.30am. The services will run every 3-4 minutes.
The Metro will run two hours longer than usual. Trains to Mellunmäki and Vuosaari will run every 10 minutes until the end of service. Between Ruoholahti and Itäkeskus, the Metro will run every 5 minutes. The Metro feeder bus routes 84 and 85B from Herttoniemi in the direction of Laajasalo will also run three hours longer than usual. The other Metro feeder routes will operate a normal Saturday service.
The last Metro services will be as follows:
Ruoholahti–Vuosaari at 2.26am, Ruoholahti–Mellunmäki at 2.31am, Itäkeskus–Vuosaari at 2.43am, Itäkeskus–Mellunmäki at 2.49am, Mellunmäki–Ruoholahti at 2am, Vuosaari–Ruoholahti at 2.05am, Itäkeskus–Ruoholahti at 2.11am
The following additional train services will run on New Year’s night:
L trains from Helsinki at 0.31am, 1.31am, 2.31am and 5.01am and from Kirkkonummi at 1.06am, 1.36am, 2.06am, 3.06am and 4.06am.
P trains from Helsinki at 1.16am, 1.46am, 2.16am, 2.46am, 3.16am, 3.46am and 4.16am.
I trains from Helsinki at 0.01am, 0.31am, 1.01am, 1.31am, 2.01am and 2.31am.
N trains from Helsinki at 3.48am and 4.48am.
In addition, there will be extra carriages. P trains from Helsinki at 0.46am-3.46am, I trains from Helsinki at 1.01am-2.31am and N trains from Helsinki at 0.48am-3.48am (from Kerava at 2.02am, 3.02am and 4.02am) will be operated with three Flirt train units. NB! P and I trains from 0.46am to 3.46am will not stop at Ilmala, and there will be changed departure platforms at Pasila. L trains will stop at Ilmala as usual.
Also R train from Helsinki at 0.42am and T trains from Helsinki at 1.48am and 2.48am are longer than usual.
