Traffic congestion expected in downtown Helsinki on 15 February

The traditional truck ride related to high school seniors’ celebration of their last school day will take place in Helsinki on Thursday 15 February from 1pm to 2pm. The truck parade will start from Merisatama and proceed via Ehrenströmintie and Laivasillankatu to the actual parade route: Pohjoisesplanadi–Lönnrotinkatu–Hietalahdentori–Bulevardi–Yrjönkatu–Uudenmaankatu–Erottajankatu–Eteläesplanadi.

Tram routes 1, 3 and 6 will be diverted from about 12.50pm to 2pm.

Trams 1 and 3 will run along Aleksanterinkatu to the Olympia Terminal, from where they will continue to the terminus of tram 1 on Pursimiehenkatu and back the same route. The trams will not serve Bulevardi, Fredrikinkatu and Laivurinkatu.

The following stops will not be served: “Ylioppilastalo” (0701 and 0702), “Erottaja” (0801 and 0802), “Fredrikinkatu” (0803 and 0804), “Iso Roobertinkatu” (0813 and 0814) and “Viiskulma” (0815 and 0816).

Tram 6 will run via Erottajankatu and Yrjönkatu to the terminus of route 10 by the Surgical Hospital. The tram will not serve Bulevardi.

The following stops will not be served: “Erottaja” (0801 and 0802), “Fredrikinkatu” (0803 and 0804), “Aleksanterin teatteri” (0805 and 0806), “Hietalahdentori” (0807 and 0808), “Hietalahdenkatu” (0810), “Kalevankatu” (0812), “Hietalahti” (0811) and “Köydenpunojankatu” (0809).

In addition, the event will affect bus route 21. Service from Vattuniemi 12.26pm–1.41pm will run to the terminus of route 21B, "Lauttasaarentie (M)" (1024). The bus will leave from Erottaja until 12.58pm and again from 2.13pm.

The event will cause traffic congestion in downtown Helsinki.
