HSL public transport on Independence Day 6 December and on Thursday 5 December

A Friday service will operate on Thursday 5 December. On Independence Day 6 December, a Sunday service will operate. There will be diversions to bus and tram routes in downtown Helsinki and potentially other changes to services due to Independence Day celebrations.

Transport services on Thursday 5 December

A Friday service will operate on most routes. Night services and the additional services for party goers will also operate, i.e. the metro will run two hours later than usual and some buses departing from Helsinki city center will have additional services. U-line buses will not operate all Friday night services on 5 December. However, routes 280, 456 and 848 will have additional services. Tram 5 will operate according to the passenger ferry operating hours.

Transport services on Independence Day 6 December

A Sunday service will operate, with night bus services also running. In addition, the pre-Christmas party season services will operate and the metro will run until about 1.30am. There will be diversions to bus and tram routes in downtown Helsinki due to Independence Day celebrations. Detailed information about the diversions will be provided as soon as available. Tram 5 will operate according to the passenger ferry operating hours and U-line buses 280 and 848 will have additional services.

Metro services

The Metro will run two hours later than usual. The services will run every 20 minutes on the Matinkylä, Vuosaari and Mellunmäki sections and every 10 minutes  between Tapiola and Itäkeskus.

The last Metro services:

M1: M1 from Matinkylä to Vuosaari at 1.19am, from Kamppi to Vuosaari at 1.37am and from Vuosaari to Matinkylä at 1.05am and from the Central Railway Station to Matinkylä at about 1.25am.

M2: M2 from Tapiola to Mellunmäki at 1.15am, from Kamppi to Mellunmäki at 1.27am and from Mellunmäki to Tapiola at 0.55am.

 

Train services

Commuter trains will operate a Sunday service. In addition, the following commuter trains will run on the night of Independence Day:

  • L trains from Helsinki to Kirkkonummi at 0.33am, 2.03am, 3.03am and 4.03m and from Kirkkonummi to Helsinki at 1.37am.
  • P train, Helsinki-Myyrmäki-Airport-Tikkurila-Helsinki, at 1.18am
  • K trains from Helsinki to Kerava 1.21am, 2.21am, 3.21am and 3.51am and from Kerava to Helsinki at 0.35am, 2.05am and 3.05am.
  • K trains from Helsinki via Kerava to Riihimäki at 2.51am and 4.21am and from Riihimäki via Kerava to Helsinki at 0.53am and 1.53am.
