There will be major changes to public transport in downtown Helsinki on Saturday 18 May approximately 11.30am-9pm due to Helsinki City Running Day.
The running events will affect tram routes 1, 2, 3, 6T and 8, bus routes 14, 18, 20, 21, 24, 58, 104, 192V, 502, 551, and U line buses 280, 643T, 644, 662/T and 665/A/B/N. In addition, there may be delays to buses 58, 69, 506, 551 and 848. The buses and trams will serve all stops along the diversion routes. Diversions to tram routes on Saturday 18 May
Tram 1 will stop running at 12.10 noon.
Tram 2 will turn around by the Market Square 3.30pm-6pm (Map showing the diversion route of tram 2). The “Olympiaterminaali” (H0434 and H0435) and “Eteläranta” (H0432 and H0433) stops will not be served. From the Market Square, the tram 2 will run in the direction of Länsi-Pasila along Snellmaninkatu, Liisankatu, Kaisaniemenkatu and Kaivokatu, from where it will resume its normal route.
Tram 3 will run to Kolmikulma 3.30pm-6pm (Map showing the diversion route of tram 3). The following stops will not be served: “Olympiaterminaali” (H0434 and H0435), “Kaivopuisto” (H0436 and H0437), “Neitsytpolku” (H0438 and H0439), “Kapteeninkatu” (H0440 and H0441), “Eiran sairaala” (H0442 and H0443), “Viiskulma” (H0815 and H0816), “Iso Roobertinkatu” (H0813 and H0814) “Fredrikinkatu” (H0803 and H0804) and “Erottaja” (H0801). In Kolmikulma, the tram will serve the “Kolmikulma” stop (H0709) on Uudenmaankatu.
Tram 6T will run to West Terminal via Kamppi (the route of tram 7) 3.30pm-6pm. Mannerheimintie, Bulevardi and Hietalahti will not be served. The following stops will not be served: “Ylioppilastalo” (H0701 and H0702), “Erottaja” (H0801 and H0802), “Fredrikinkatu” (H0803 and H0804), “Aleksant.teatteri” (H0805 and H0806), “Hietalahdentori” (H0807 and H0808), “Hietalahdenkatu” (H0810), “Kalevankatu” (H0812), “Hietalahti” (H0811) and “Köydenpunojankatu” (H0809).
Tram 8 will not run 12.10pm-9pm.
Diversions to bus routes on Saturday 18 May
Bus 14 will be diverted 3pm-6.30pm to run along Laivurinkatu, Tehtaankatu, Raatimiehenkatu, Pietarinkatu, Kapteeninkatu, Tehtaankatu and Laivurinkatu, from where it will resume its normal route to Pajamäki. The terminus will be at “Neitsytpolku” (H1207) (Map showing the diversion route of bus 14). The following stops will not be served: “Tehtaanpuisto” (H1179 and H1180), “Eiran sairaala” (H0449), “Perämiehenkatu” (H0444 and H0445), “Munkkisaarenkatu” (H1185 and H1186), “Hernesaarenkatu” (H1187 and H1188), “Matalasalmenkuja” (H1337 and H1190), “Henry Fordin katu”, (H1191 and H1192), “Pihlajasaarenkatu” (H1193 and H1194) and “Hernesaaren laituri” (H1195 and H1196).
Bus 18 will be diverted 3pm-6.30pm to run along Laivurinkatu, Pietarinkatu, Kapteeninkatu, Tehtaankatu and Laivurinkatu, from where it will resume its normal route (map) . The “Eira” stops (H1177 and H1178) will not be served. The terminus will be at “Eiran sairaala” (H1176).
Bus 20 will not run to Katajaharju 11.30am-8.30pm. Instead, it will run to Vattuniemi to the terminus of bus 21/B (“Melkonkuja”, H1051 on Itälahdenkatu). The following stops will not be served “Lauttasaaren kirkko” (H1028 and H1029), “Kuikkarinne” (H1030 and H1031), “Takaniementie” (H1032 and H1033), “Viklakuja” (H1034 and H1035), “Vaskiniementie” (H1036 and H1037), “Koivusaarentie” (H1038 and H1039) and “Katajaharju” (H1040). Bus 21 will not run to Eira 3pm-6.30pm. Instead, it will run to the terminus of bus 20 (“Ruoholahdenranta” H1157). The following stops will not be served: “Hietalahti (H1167 and H1168), “Hietalahdentori” (H0807 and H1169), “Iso Roobertinkatu" (H1170), “Merimiehenkatu" (H1172), “Viiskulma” (H0815 and H1174), “Eiran sairaala” (H0442 and H1176) and “Eira” (H1177 and H1178).
Bus 24 will be diverted twice during the day. The section of route to Seurasaari will be closed to traffic 11.30am-1pm. The bus will run along Paciuksenkatu and Munkkiniemen puistotie to the “Laajalahden aukio” stop (H1401) (map showing the diversion route of bus 24 to Munkkiniemi). The following stops will not be served: “Humallahti” (H1293 and H1294), “Mäntyniemi” (H1295 and H1296), “Ruutikellarit (H1297 and 1298), “Heikinniementie” (H1299 and H1300 and “Seurasaari” (H1302).
In addition, bus 24 will be diverted 3.30pm-6.30pm in southern downtown of Helsinki to run along Korkeavuorenkatu, Tehtaankatu, Laivurinkatu, Pietarinkatu and Kapteeninkatu. The terminus will be at “Kapteeninpuistikko” (H1205) (Map showing the diversion route of bus 24 in Eira). The following stops will not be served: “Kapteeninpuistikko” (H1206), “Meritori” (H1208), “Merikatu” (H1209) and “Neitsytpolku” (H1207).
Buses 104 and 192V will run in both directions via the Lemissaari intersection 11.30am-8.30pm. The “Katajaharju” (H1066 and H1067) and “Lahnalahdentie” (H1064 and H1065) stops on Lauttasaarentie will not be served.
Buses 58 and 280 will not serve the “Munkkiniemen aukio” bus stop (H1388) 3pm-6pm. Instead, the buses will serve the “Munkkiniemen aukio” stop (H1390).
Bus 502 will run via the Central Railway Station 12.20pm-9pm, as Helsinginkatu will be closed to traffic. Services from Merihaka between 12.15pm and 8.48pm will run from Merihaka via Hakaniemen ranta, Siltasaarenkatu, Kaisaniemenkatu, Vilhonkatu, Mikonkatu, Kaivokatu, Mannerheimintie, Arkadiankatu, Runeberginkatu and Topeliuksenkatu. Services from Leppävaara station bewteen 11.59am and 8.59pm will run via Topeliuksenkatu, Runeberginkatu, Arkadiankatu, Mannerheimintie, Postikatu, Kaivokatu, Kaisaniemenkatu, Siltasaarenkatu, Hakaniemen ranta, Sörnäisten rantatie and Haapaniemenkatu. The following stops will not be served: “Kallion virastotalo” (H0226 and H2129), “Castréninkatu” (H0227 and H0228), “Kuntatalo” (H0229 and H2128), “Wallininkatu” (H2126 and H2127), “Linnanmäki (etelä)" (H2066 and H2067), “Ooppera” (H1332 and H2062) and “Ratikkamuseo” (H1328 and H1329).
Bus 551 to Herttoniemi will not serve the “Munkkiniemen aukio” stop (H1388) on Paciuksenkatu 3pm-6pm. Instead, the bus will serve the “Munkkiniemen aukio” stop (H1500) in Ramsaynranta.
Buses 662/T, 643T, 644 and 665/A/B/N usually running along Helsinginkatu will run via Nordenskiöldinkatu to Tuusulanväylä 12.20pm-9pm.
Bus routes operating to/from Elielinaukio will be diverted in both directions approximately 12.15pm-9pm, as Töölönlahdenkatu will be closed to traffic. The buses will run to Elielinaukio via Mannerheimintie, Postikatu and Asema-aukio. The buses will run from Elielinaukio via Postikuja, Mannerheiminaukio and Mannerheimintie.
In addition, delays are expected to bus routes 58, 69, 506, 551 and 848 on Nordenskiöldinkatu approximately 11.30am-12.20 noon and 3pm-3.15pm. Other short disruptions to traffic in downtown Helsinki are possible.
