There will be changes to public transport services over the Christmas and New Year. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, a Sunday service will operate. On Christmas Day, services will run from about 11am. On New Year’s Eve, a Friday service will operate and on New Year’s Day, a Sunday service will operate. There will be no additional services on New Year’s night. Some routes will not operate during the school Christmas break. All timetables are available in the Journey Planner. Service changes in detail
During the school Christmas break, 21 December to 6 January and 23 December to 6 January, some bus routes will not operate or will operate to special timetables.
21 December 2020 to 6 January 2021
- Vantaa route 588 will not operate
- Kirkkonummi routes 901, 902, 903, 906 and 909 will not operate
- Sipoo routes 982, 984, 992, 993, 994 and 996 will not operate
- on routes 986, 987 and 989, services marked in the timetables with a plus (+) will not operate
23 December 2020 to 6 January 2021
- Helsinki routes 79B and 91 will not operate
- on routes U280 and U346, services marked in the timetables with a plus (+) will not operate
- routes 348 and 349 will operate to school holiday timetables
- Siuntio routes 912 and 914 will not operate
- Routes 913, 915, 916 and 917 will operate to school holiday timetables
On 23 December, a normal weekday service will operate.
On Christmas Eve 24 December, a Sunday service will operate.
- Commuter trains to Riihimäki and Lahti (R and Z trains) will operate a reduced service from 4pm.
- The 11.03pm L train from Helsinki will terminate at Kirkkonummi (i.e. the train will not run via Siuntio to Karjaa).
- Routes 171, 173, 182A, 787K, 788K, 841 and 842 (in Kirkkonummi, Siuntio and Sipoo) will operate until about 4pm on Christmas Eve. However, route 985, Kerava–Nikkilä, will operate a normal Sunday service.
- On route 24, services will run directly along Mechelininkatu, Hietaniemi will not be served.
- U line buses will mainly operate a Saturday service until 1pm, after which only some services will be running.
On Christmas Day 25 December, a Sunday service will operate approximately from 11am.
- Commuter trains will operate a reduced service until approximately 11am, after which a Sunday service will operate.
- Metro services will operate approximately from 10.30am.
- Tram services will run from about 11am.
- Bus routes will operate a Sunday service from 10.30am.
- Routes 171, 173, 182A, 787K, 788K, 841 and 842 (in Kirkkonummi, Siuntio and Sipoo) will not operate on Christmas Day. However, route 985, Kerava–Nikkilä, will operate a Sunday service from 10.30am.
- U line buses will operate a reduced service.
- The Suomenlinna ferry will operate a Sunday service throughout the day.
On Boxing Day 26 December, a Sunday service will operate. Commuter trains will operate a Saturday night service. Changes to U line bus services are possible.
Additional bus services to cemeteries on Christmas Eve
There will be additional bus services to cemeteries on Christmas Eve. Bus 24X will operate one-way loop serving Hietaniemi clockwise. The bus will run between Asema-aukio (Postitalo, H2038) and Hietaniemi every 15 minutes about 10am to 5pm. In Hietaniemi, the bus will depart from the “Hietaniemi” bus stop (H1269). Bus 24 will run directly along Mechelininkatu. The bus will not serve Hietaniemi and the following stops: “Väinämöisenkatu” (H1266), “Väinämöisenkenttä” (H1268), “Hietaniemi” (H1270), “Hietakannaksentie” (H1259) and “Taivallahti” (H1282).

Route 722 will have additional services to Honkanummi cemetery. The bus will run every 60 minutes from the Railway Square (Rautatientori) 7.26am to 4.26pm and from Havukoski 8.15am to 5.15pm.
On New Year's Eve 31 December, a Friday service will operate. There will be no additional services. The metro will also operate a normal weekday service.
On New Year’s Day, 1 January, a Sunday service will operate. However, commuter trains will operate a normal Friday night service. Changes to U line bus services are possible.
On 5 January 2021, a Friday service will operate. Changes to U line bus services are possible.
On Epiphany 6 January 2021, a Sunday service will operate. Changes to U line bus services are possible.
