Tuomas Savikangas and Reija Taiha appointed as new directors at HSL

The Executive Board of HSL appointed two new directors at an extraordinary meeting held on 9 May. Tuomas Savikangas, M.Sc, is the new Director of the Technology division. Reija Taiha, M.Ed., was appointed as Director of the new People and Culture division. Both directors will begin in their respective positions in August.

“In order to function efficiently in customer- and data-oriented business, HSL must be ambitious in developing its operations and combining its various areas of expertise. By providing their support and competence, Reija and Tuomas will help us achieve these goals. I warmly welcome Reija and Tuomas to the HSL team,” says Mika Nykänen, the Executive Director of HSL.

Tuomas Savikangas is currently working as the Director of digital service development at CGI Suomi Oy. He has previously occupied various leadership positions in digital development and in data and analytics, for instance at VR, Mandatum Life and Finland’s Slot Machine Association (RAY).

”In my view, HSL has a significant and important role in our society, and I’m excited to be able to take part in promoting its ambitious strategy. A cost-effective and emission-free public transport is an integral part of a well-functioning everyday life, in which technology plays a central role. It will be a great experience to be part of HSL’s organization,” says Tuomas Savikangas.

Reija Taiha is the CEO of the Kassiopeia Hotels & Restaurants group. She has previously worked as the HR Director of TA-yhtiöt and Kassiopeia Hotels & Restaurants and as an HR Manager at TA-yhtiöt and the Finnish National Gallery.

”I’m excited to take part in HSL’s journey towards change and to further its ambitious strategy. The key to success is people, and I can’t wait to be working together with the whole HSL personnel. Together we can build a stronger and more competitive HSL,” says Reija Taiha.

As of August 2023, HSL will have seven divisions: Administration (director: Jussi Saarinen), Strategy (director: Sini Puntanen), Traffic (director: Johanna Wallin), Markets (director: Mari Flink), Technology (director: Tuomas Savikangas), Communications (director: Päivi Alakuijala) and People and Culture (director: Reija Taiha).
