Request a refund for value or tickets remaining on a multi-user or old personal HSL card by 31 December

Multi-user HSL cards and personal HSL cards that have not been used since the beginning of 2023 are no longer in use. If you have any remaining value or unused tickets on your disabled HSL card, you can request a refund until 31 December 2025. If you have a personal HSL card that has been topped up with season tickets or value, or if you have used it to purchase a single ticket at a card reader at any point in 2023, 2024, or 2025, you may continue to use the card as usual.

We are currently overhauling the purchase and use of tickets and upgrading our backend systems. Adult single tickets are now available with contactless payment at card readers. Additionally, we launched a new online HSL Ticket Store on 24 September. Multi-user HSL cards and personal HSL cards last used in 2022 were discontinued on 21 September. If you have used your personal HSL card in 2023 or later, it will continue to work as usual.

If you are unsure whether your HSL card is personal or multi-user, you can check it here.

How to request a refund

You can request a refund for the value or tickets remaining on your disabled HSL card until 31 December 2025. To request a refund, fill out a refund request form on our website or visit the HSL or a municipal service point. You can have the refund paid to your HSL account (no service fee) or to your bank account (service fee €8 per card).

You can use a refund paid to your HSL account—that is, value transferred to your HSL card—to buy single tickets at card readers onboard public transport and at stations. You can use the value in your HSL account as a payment method when topping up your HSL card at the HSL or a municipal service point.

Refund requests are subject to HSL Public Transport Conditions of Carriage and Ticket Terms and Conditions.
