Sections 2.1 and 2.3: Purchase of single and day tickets using the HSL app without logging in
We will clarify the terms for purchasing single and day tickets via the HSL app when the customer is not logged in. If a customer logs in to the app after purchasing a ticket, they will lose that ticket. We will include this information in sections 2.1 and 2.3:
- If you purchase single tickets as a guest without logging in to the HSL app: Use the tickets before logging in to the HSL app with your username and password; otherwise, you will lose the tickets you purchased.
- If you purchase day tickets as a guest without logging in to the HSL app: Use the tickets before logging in to the HSL app with your username and password; otherwise, you will lose the tickets you purchased.
Sections 2.4.5 and 2.4.7: Cancellation fees for 360-day season tickets and auto-renewing saver subscriptions from 1 January 2026
If you cancel a 360-day season ticket before its expiry date or an auto-renewing saver subscription before the 12th payment, the cancellation fee will be as follows for tickets purchased after 1 January 2026:
- AB, BC, CD and D tickets: the cancellation fee is EUR 46 (EUR 45 in 2025)
- ABC and BCD tickets: the cancellation fee is EUR 64 (EUR 57 in 2025)
- ABCD tickets: the cancellation fee is EUR 71 (EUR 66 in 2025)
The price of a season ticket is lower if you purchase a ticket for the whole year or commit to an auto-renewing saver subscription. In both cases, you get 12 months of travel for the price of 10. If you cancel your ticket before the 12-month period is up, you will be charged a cancellation fee. Read more about the auto-renewing saver subscription
Section 6.1: Purchasing the correct ticket and situations where ticket purchase fails
We will clarify the guidelines in section 6.1 regarding purchasing the correct ticket by adding instructions for situations where ticket purchase on board a vehicle fails:
It is your responsibility to ensure that you purchase the correct ticket, that is valid long enough, and that the purchase of a ticket at a card reader on board a vehicle, or in the HSL app before boarding or before entering the Metro payment area or the Suomenlinna ferry pier is successful. A failed ticket purchase does not entitle you to travel without a valid ticket. If the ticket purchase fails, use another payment method, another card reader, or the app instead of a card reader; in that case, you must purchase your ticket before passing the card reader.
At the end of section 6.1, we will add a mention about the validity of Interrail and Eurail passes on HSL area commuter trains.
HSL Public Transport Conditions of Carriage and Ticket Terms and Conditions are available on our website. The website will be updated on 1 January 2026.
