There will be changes to HSL public transport services over the Christmas period. Some routes will have additional services. On the night of 24/25 December, commuter trains will terminate at Pasila from midnight to 8am. Up-to-date timetables are available for Christmas in the Journey Planner from 24 November.
Service changes
During the school Christmas break 23 December to 6 January, some bus routes will not operate or will operate to special timetables. On Espoo route 565B, U-line routes 280 and 346 as well as on Sipoo routes 986, 987 and 989, services marked in the timetables with a plus (+) will not operate. Helsinki route 91, Vantaa route 588 and Sipoo routes 982, 984, 992, 993, 994 and 996 will not operate. In Siuntio, routes 912 and 914 will not operate and routes 913, 915, 916 and 917 will operate to a special timetable. In Espoo, routes 348 and 349 will operate to a special timetable.
On 23 December, a normal Monday service will operate.
On Christmas Eve 24 December, a Sunday service will operate. In Kirkkonummi and Sipoo, routes 171, 173, 182A, 787, 788, 841, 842 and 911 will run until 4pm. Commuter trains to Riihimäki and Lahti (R and Z trains) will operate a reduced service from 4pm. The 11.03pm L train from Helsinki will terminate at Kirkkonummi (i.e. the train will not run to Siuntio and Karjaa).
On the night of 24/25 December, commuter trains between Helsinki and Pasila will be replaced by bus 699X due to track work (read more in a separate release). U line buses will mainly operate a Saturday service until 1pm, after which only some services will be running. Route 848 will operate a Sunday service throughout the day until 9pm. Tram 5 will operate according to the passenger ferry operating hours.
On Christmas Day 25 September, a Sunday service will operate from about 11am. Bus services and the Metro will operate a Sunday service from 10.30am. In Kirkkonummi, Siuntio and Sipoo, routes 171, 173, 182A, 787, 788, 841, 842 and 911 will not operate. U line buses will operate a reduced service. Tram services will operate from about 11am. On tram route 7, the first service will depart at 9.41am from the West Terminal, on route 2, the first service will depart from Pasila station at 10.25am and on route 3, the first service will depart from the Olympia Terminal at 10.50am. Tram 5 will operate according to the passenger ferry operating hours. Suomenlinna ferry will operate a Sunday service throughout the day.
Commuter trains will operate a reduced Sunday service until approximately 11am, after which a Sunday service will operate. There will be changes to T train services in the morning of Christmas Day due to track work. Trains will be replaced by bus 699X between Helsinki and Pasila until 8am.
On Boxing Day 26 December, a Sunday service will operate. Tram 5 will operate according to the passenger ferry operating hours.
Additional bus services to cemeteries on Christmas Eve
There will be additional bus services to cemeteries on Christmas Eve. Bus 24X will operate a one-way loop to Hietaniemi (clockwise). The bus will run between Asema-aukio (Postitalo, H2038) and Hietaniemi every 15 minutes about 10am to 5pm. In Hietaniemi, the bus will depart from the “Hietaniemi” bus stop (H1269).
Bus 24 will run directly along Mechelininkatu 8am to 8pm, i.e. the bus will not serve Hietaniemi. Between 8am and 8pm, following stops will not be served: Väinämöisenkatu (H1266), Väinämöisenkenttä (H1268), Hietaniemi (H1270), Hietakannaksentie (H1259) and Taivallahti (H1282).

Route 722 will have additional services to Honkanummi cemetery. The bus will run every 60 minutes from the Railway Square (Rautatientori) 7.26am to 4.26pm and from Havukoski 8.15am to 5.15pm.
