R and T train services will be replaced with buses on weekday nights from the night of Sunday 14/Monday 15 August. The train services will be replaced with buses from the night of Sunday/Monday to the night of Thursday/Friday between 0.30am and 3.30am. According to estimate, the arrangement will remain in place until 9 December 2022. Replacement bus 969X will run between Kerava, Ainola and Järvenpää.
The arrangement will continue until Friday 9 December. There will also be no replacement bus service on the eve of Independence Day, Monday 5 December, when trains run according to Friday timetable. On Independence Day, 6 December, trains run according to Sunday timetables and the replacement bus service is run.
The reason for the arrangement is track work with the purpose of increasing the number of rail tracks between Helsinki and Riihimäki.
Impact on R and T train services on weekday nights from 14 August to 9 December
The arrangement will remain in place between the night of Sunday/Monday and the night of Thursday/Friday. Train services will operate as usual at weekends.
From the direction of Helsinki:
- The 0.40am R train from Helsinki will only run as far as Kerava. At Kerava, passengers can change to replacement bus 969X that leaves at 1.08am from Kerava to Järvenpää. R train will leave from Järvenpää to Riihimäki at 1.30am.
- The 1.51am T train from Helsinki will only run as far as Kerava. At Kerava, passengers can change to replacement bus 969X that leaves at 2.34am from Kerava to Järvenpää. T train will leave from Järvenpää to Riihimäki at 3.04am.
From the direction of Riihimäki:
- T train will leave from Riihimäki earlier than usual, at 2.33am (normal departure time 2.55am). The train will only run as far as Järvenpää. At Järvenpää, passengers can change to replacement bus 969X that leaves at 3.09am from Järvenpää to Kerava. T train will depart from Kerava to Helsinki as usual at 3.32am.
- T train will leave from Riihimäki later than usual, at 4am (normal departure time 3.55am). The train will depart from Jokela at 4.14am (normal departure time 4.12am). From Kerava, the train will continue to Helsinki as usual at 4.32am.

Stops served by the bus:
- Kerava station: bay 11 (Ke0408) in the direction of Järvenpää.
- Ainola: on Ainolanväylä, on both sides of the Myrskykatu intersection: Ratsastuskeskus (Jä0029) in the direction of Kerava, Ratsastuskeskus (Jä0030) in the direction of Järvenpää.
- Järvenpää station: bay 15 (Jä2125) in the direction of Kerava.
You can use the same tickets as for the trains when travelling on a replacement bus
The replacement buses have open fare collection. This means that you can board the buses also through the middle doors. You can use the same tickets as for the trains when travelling on a replacement bus, that is, valid tickets of both HSL and VR.
