Trams to operate a reduced service on Friday 16 February

Central Helsinki tram routes will operate a reduced service on Friday 16 February due to weather conditions.

We will reduce tram services according to a predetermined plan in order to ensure that services run as smoothly and reliably as possible. Detailed timetables are already available in the Journey Planner.

Changes to tram services on Friday 16 February

  • Trams 1T, 4, 6, 7, 8T, 9 and 10 will run approximately every 15 minutes.
  • Trams 2 and 3 will run approximately every 20 minutes.
  • Tram 1 will run its weekend route to the West Terminal under route number 1T. There will be no services from the terminus of tram 1 in Eira. The closest services are provided by trams 3 and 6 and buses 20 and 30.
  • Tram 8 will also run its weekend route to the West Terminal under route number 8T.
  • Tram 5 will not run. You can get to the Katajanokka Terminal by tram 4. The stop closest to the terminal is called “Vyökatu”.
  • Night tram 9N will not run on Friday night.

In addition, tram route 7 will be diverted and it will not serve Kruununhaka between 10.45am and 2.15pm. Read more in a separate service update.

Weather forecasts are predicting heavy snowfall and sleet for Friday. In addition, tram maintenance staff have been on strike and snow has not been cleared from tracks for two days. The reduced service allows us to remove older trams from service for the day. The older trams have had problems with operating in cold weather and heavy snowfall.
