The lift at entrance C, located at the western end of Herttoniemi Metro Station, i.e., the Hiihtäjäntie entrance on the K-Supermarket Hertta side of the station, has been fully renovated.
The lift has been out of service since January. The Metro platform is again wheelchair and pram accessible from both ends of the station.
New tactile guides tested at the station
During the renovation work, several options for tactile guides designed for visually impaired people will also be tested on the platform level of the station.
The trial will examine four different options, with the goal of selecting a solution to be used at all Metro stations in the future.
Renovation work continues
Roofing work has been carried out on the second ticket hall and service building of the station during the early part of the year. The work will be completed in April.
During the spring and summer, work will continue both inside and outside the station. For example, the lift and escalators in the ticket hall on the Länsi-Herttoniemi side (entrances A and B) will be renovated over the summer.
The goal of the renovation work is to make the station more pleasant and improve the reliability of various technical systems. For example, renovating the lifts will significantly increase convenience, as as the lifts have frequently been out of service due to malfunctions.
The renovation work has been planned so that it would cause as little disruptions for public transport passengers as possible.
The work will not affect Metro or bus services.
