Strike to halt almost all public transport services on Thursday 14 December

A political strike halts almost rail services and bus services on Thursday 14 December. We advise passengers to be prepared for significant disruptions to public transport on Thursday 14 December.

The following modes of transport are not running on Thursday:

  • commuter trains
  • the metro
  • trams and light rail
  • almost all buses

Services will not operate at these times

  • Trams and light rail 15 run as usual on Wednesday night until the end of service (about 2am). After that, the services will be disrupted until early morning on Friday 15 December.
  • Commuter trains will not operate from 4am on Thursday morning 14 December. The services will resume in the early morning of Friday. 
  • Buses mainly run as usual on Wednesday night until the end of service (about 2am). After that, the services will be disrupted until early morning on Friday 15 December.
  • All metro services will be cancelled on Thursday 14 December.

The strike may still affect services on Friday morning 15 December.

 
According to current information, ferry services to Suomenlinna and  Kruunuvuorenranta run as normal.

HSL customer service opening hours

HSL's customer service is exceptionally open as follows on Thursday 14 December:

  • HSL service point at the Central Railway Station is open 9.30am to 5pm
  • HSL's customer service phone line is open 6.30am to 7pm
