The Executive Board of HSL reached the decision after voting on the matter. The votes were cast as follows: Vesa Silfver was given 6 votes, Mari Flink 5 votes and Ilkka Heiskanen 3 votes.
Vesa Silfver currently holds the position of Director at KPMG and has over 15 years of experience in various directorial positions at KPMG, Motiva Oy, Deloitte and Accenture. In addition to his master’s degree, Silfver also holds an Executive MBA from Henley Business School Finland.
Silfver has also held several positions of responsibility, including being a member of the Finnish National Commission on Sustainable Development and an alumni board member at Henley Business School Finland.
The application period for the position ended on 16 January. A total of 38 persons applied for the position. The Executive Board of HSL decided to interview three applicants: Mari Flink, Director of the Markets Division at HSL, Ilkka Heiskanen, former Senior Vice President, Train Operations and Safety at VR, and Vesa Silfver, Director at KPMG.
