Entrance D to the University of Helsinki Metro Station on Yliopistonkatu closed from 1 March

Opintoputki, i.e. the pedestrian tunnel from entrance D to the University of Helsinki Metro Station to the ticket hall will be closed from 1 March. The tunnel will be closed for renovation until early September. During the works, the closest accessible entrance will be entrance A on Kaisaniemenkatu.

Opintoputki, i.e. the pedestrian tunnel from entrance D to the University of Helsinki Metro Station on Yliopistonkatu to the ticket hall will be closed from 1 March. The tunnel will be closed for renovation until early September. Helsinki City Transport HKL is responsible for the renovation.

Lifts at the ticket hall end of the tunnel and other entrances to the station will be open as usual. Accessible route to the metro station is via entrances A and B at the junction of Kaisaniemenkatu and Vuorikatu. The most direct accessible route from Yliopistonkatu to the metro (via Mikonkatu and Kaisaniemenkatu to entrance A) is about 400 meters.

The works include improving accessibility and repairing wall surfaces as well as fixing leaks and technical systems. In addition, a new emergency exit will be provided. The renovation will enhance the look, safety and usability of the station and its surroundings. The tunnel will also be enlivened by a new light art installation.
