Regional Barometer 2021

The survey includes 15 municipalities: Espoo, Helsinki, Hyvinkää, Järvenpää, Kauniainen, Kerava, Kirkkonummi, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Sipoo, Siuntio, Tuusula, Vantaa and Vihti.

The Helsinki region is growing. Housing production must keep pace with the population growth and the transport system must cater effectively for an increasing number of people. At the same time, emissions must be reduced.

Planning of land use, housing and transport covering the whole region is needed in order for the region to remain functional. The municipalities in the region, the state and HSL draw up a joint land use, housing and transport plan or MAL plan every four years. The MAL plan sets out the region’s shared vision of how the region as a whole should be developed in the coming decades.

MAL planning requires information on how Helsinki region residents view different housing and transport development goals, means and measures, as well as information about people’s needs and wishes regarding the housing and mobility environment.

The aim of the Regional Barometer is to obtain versatile and reliable information on residents’ views and opinions, changes in them as well as variation between areas and population groups.

Completing the survey allows you to share your views on the goals and means for the development of housing and transport in the Helsinki region. You can also win a gift card. All respondents who provide their contact details will be entered into a draw for five S Group gift cards worth 100 euros.
