Bicycles allowed on Tuusula buses in summer 2021

You are allowed to take your bicycle with you on Tuusula buses in summer 2021. We are conducting a trial where we examine whether it would be possible to start transporting bicycles also on buses.

During the trial between 7 June and 15 August, you can take your bicycle with you on bus routes 641, 642, 643, 665, 961, 963 and 975N. Bicycles are not allowed on neighborhood buses.

You can take your bicycle with you on HSL commuter trains and the metro free of charge. On the Suomenlinna ferry, bicycles can be carried for a fee. More information on transporting bicycles on HSL vehicles.

How to travel with your bicycle

Tickets

You can board a bus with your bicycle if you have a valid public transport ticket. During the trial, no separate fee is charged for transporting a bicycle on a bus.

You do not need to show your ticket to the driver when you board the bus with your bicycle. Show your ticket to a ticket inspector upon request.

The easiest way to buy a single ticket is by using the HSL app. The ticket must be on your phone before you board the bus. More information on the HSL app.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to buy a single ticket on the bus using the value on your HSL card when traveling with a bicycle.

Boarding and getting off a bus

When you have your bicycle with you, board the bus using the middle doors. Make sure that there is enough room on the bus for your bicycle. During rush hours the buses can be full so avoid taking your bicycle with you during rush hours.

When you board the bus, use the straps opposite the bus's middle doors to fasten your bicycle.

Press the stop button that has a picture of a wheelchair or pram before the stop you want to get off at. Do not unfasten your bicycle until the bus has stopped.

If you continue your journey on a train station, please walk your bike in platform areas and use a lift to move between floors. It is not allowed to transport bicycles, prams or large objects on escalators.

Transportation rules

Make sure that your bicycle is firmly secured with the straps throughout the journey. This way the bicycle does not cause danger to other passengers. Do not leave your bicycle unattended during the journey.

Also make sure that your bicycle does not disturb others in any other way at the bus stop, during the journey or when you board and get off the bus.

Give room if there are passengers who use a wheelchair or travel with a pram boarding the bus at the same bus stop.
