Changes to the Metro timetables from Monday 27 December

There will be changes to the Metro timetables from Monday 27 December. The changes will most affect peak time services. There will also be changes to the timetables of feeder bus services in Vuosaari, Mellunmäki and Kontula to ease interchanging between the Metro and buses. The new timetables are available in the Journey Planner.

Changes to peak-time service frequency

At peak times, i.e. Mon-Fri about 7am to 9am and 5pm to 6pm, the Metro will run to Mellunmäki, Vuosaari and Matinkylä every 6 minutes. In the future, the combined service frequency of Metro lines M1 and M2 between Tapiola and Itäkeskus will be 3 minutes instead of the current 2.5 minutes.

The change is temporary and it is due to test runs on the new section of line to Kivenlahti. The change is made to ensure the reliability and smooth operation of services on the section of line in use.

Minor changes to early morning and evening timetables

On weekdays, westbound metro services from the termini in East Helsinki will run every 10 minutes from 5.20am and every 7.5 minutes from 5.40pm.

On Saturdays and Sundays, some early morning and late evening services to/from Tapiola, will be extended to Matinkylä.

Changes to feeder bus timetables is East Helsinki

There will be changes to the Mon-Fri timetables for bus routes 90 and 96 serving Vuosaari and bus routes 94, 94A, 95, 97 and 97V serving the areas of Mellunmäki and Kontula. The timetables of some services will change by a few minutes to enable smooth interchanges between the buses and the Metro.
