Student tickets will be available only on the HSL app from 1 January 2022. If you live permanently in the HSL area and you are a full-time student, you can buy season tickets at a 45% discount via the HSL app. Buying tickets via the HSL app is easy. You can activate the discount yourself in the app, after which the app will verify your enrollment information from the Koski service. This means that you will no longer have to visit a service point to update your student discount entitlement.
More and more services are being digitized. We are also in the process of digitizing our sales channels, as the use of digital channels has increased quickly during the past few years; today, almost 60 percent of all tickets are sold via the HSL app. With the HSL app, you can buy tickets wherever you are.
The student discount entitlement can be updated on the HSL card in certain circumstances also in the future
Not all students are able to buy a ticket at a discount via the app, because verifying their enrollment information from the Koski service is not possible. You can find more information on such circumstances here.
If you have topped up your HSL card with a season ticket that is valid until the end of January 2022, you can use the ticket as usual until the end of January. You can buy your next ticket via the HSL app.
Tips for using the HSL app
It is advisable to use the latest version of the app. Check your app store for the latest version of the HSL app and if need be, update your app. It is also your responsibility to ensure that your phone has enough battery power for the duration of the journey so that you will be able to display the ticket to the ticket inspector, if necessary.
