Updated on 16 August: the number of new card readers and a change in the ticket range on the online store.
You need to transfer season tickets or value purchased online onto your HSL card before you can use them by showing your card to a card reader or ticket machine. The ticket or value will not show on your card before you have done this. After this, you can use the HSL card as usual at both old and new card readers.
We are currently transforming the way tickets are purchased and upgrading our backend systems. The project involves replacing current card readers with new ones. Later we will open a new HSL Ticket Store. Tickets purchased via the new online store no longer need to be transferred separately onto the HSL card.
You can top up your HSL card at sales and service points and the large blue ticket machines. The most convenient way to purchase tickets is to use the HSL app, which will work normally throughout the reform process.
About 1,700 new card readers have been installed so far (situation on 16 August). In total, there are 4,200 card readers. We update information about the progress of the installations on our website.
From 16 October, HSL cards can be topped up only with season tickets when using the online store. This means that value and day tickets will be temporarily removed from the online product range. More information is available in our separate news bulletin.
