Tram 5 back in traffic on September weekends, changes to tram timetables also possible

Tram 5 from the Central Railway Station to Katajanokka Terminal has not been operating since mid-August. The tram will return to traffic with reduced service on 3 September and will only operate at weekends. In addition, other tram routes will also operate a reduced service.

Tram 5 from the Central Railway Station to Katajanokka Terminal will return to traffic on 3 September. The tram will operate on Saturdays and Sundays in September. 

Other tram routes have also been operating a reduced service due to shortage of staff. As of Monday 5 September, trams 7 and 9 will resume normal service. There has been a growing need for more frequent services on said routes especially in Jätkäsaari. Other tram routes will continue to operate a reduced service for now.

Changes to tram services

    • Trams 1 and 2 will resume their regular routes via Töölö between the Opera House and Lasipalatsi on Monday 29 August. For more information, read our release.
    • Tram 5 to Katajanokka Terminal will return to traffic on 3 September. The tram will operate on Saturdays and Sundays. You can also get to Katajanokka with tram 4 that runs along the following route: Katajanokka – Lasipalatsi – Munkkiniemi. The “Vyökatu” stop (H0413/H0414) on Merikasarminkatu is the stop nearest to the terminal.
    • Tram 8 resumes its route to Ruoholahti and Jätkäsaari via Töölö on Monday 29 August. For more information, read our release.
    • Tram 10 will continue to run only between Kuusitie and Kirurgi. Replacement bus 10X will run from Kuusitie to Pikku Huopalahti. Due to special arrangements, tram 3 will run to Töölön halli. For more information, read our release.
