Blog 7: Comment on the draft bus route plans for Ring I

The route of bus 54 would not change. The bus would start running on weekends and on weekdays the bus would operate until about 11pm.

Route of bus 54: Itäkeskus (M) – Ring I – Lassila – Pitäjänmäki – Valimo

Service frequency of bus 54 at peak times / during the daytime / on Saturdays / on Sundays: 10/12/20/30

The route and service frequency of bus 523 would be as outlined in the Route Network Plan for Tapiola and Leppävaara (HSLH 8 Feb 2022).

Route of bus 523: Leppävaara – Ring I – Tapiola - Westendinasema

Service frequency of bus 523 at peak times / during the daytime / on Saturdays / on Sundays: 10/15/15/15

The route of bus 553 would not change. The peak time service frequency of bus 553 would be reduced from every 15–18 minutes to every 20 minutes. The operating hours of the bus would be extended so that it would also run on weekday evenings and at weekends, replacing route 553K.

Route of bus 553: Hakunila – Suurmetsä – Malmi station – Maunula – Ring I – Leppävaara

Bus route 553K, which runs early in the morning and late in the evening as well as on weekends, would be withdrawn and replaced by bus 553.

Bus route 54 (Itäkeskus (M) – Valimo) would be withdrawn. Between Itäkeskus and Kannelmäki, the bus would be replaced by a new bus 541, between Kannelmäki and Valimo by rerouted bus 553.

Journeys between Itäkeskus and Pukinmäki as well as between Pukinmäki and Pakila to Lassila and Valimo would require transfers.

Bus route 523 (Leppävaara – Tapiola – Westendinasema) would be withdrawn. The bus would be replaced by new bus 541, Itäkeskus – Westendinasema.

A new crosstown bus route 541 would be introduced. The bus would run via Ring I from Itäkeskus via Leppävaara and Tapiola to Westendinasema. The bus would replace bus 54 between Itäkeskus and Kannelmäki, bus 553 between Kannelmäki and Leppävaara and bus 523 between Leppävaara and Westendinasema.

Route of bus 541: Itäkeskus (M) – Leppävaara – Tapiola – Westendinasema

The route and service frequency of bus 553 would change. Bus 553 would run from Hakunila to Kannelmäki as it currently does. From Kannelmäki, the bus would run via Kaupintie and Pitäjänmäentie to the current terminus of bus 54 at Valimo station. Between Kannelmäki and Leppävaara, bus 553 would be replaced by new route 541.

The peak time service frequency of bus 553 would be reduced from every 15–18 minutes to every 20 minutes. The bus would link with bus 541 at Pukinmäki station and at the bus stops on Ring I between Pakila and Kannelmäki.

The route of bus 553 is the same as the route of bus 553K from Hakunila to Kannelmäki. Between Kannelmäki and Leppävaara, Ring I would be served by the new route 541.
