Improvements to services in 2024

In 2024, we invest in improving public transport services. We will improve services on many routes and modes of transport. The next improvements will take effect from 12 August 2024.

More frequent services, new routes

In August 2024, a new tram route 13 will start running between Pasila and Kalasatama, and a new crosstown bus route will start running along Ring I. Service frequency will increase on many routes. For example, light rail 15 will run every 6 minutes at peak times from 12 August.

New bus route 554 will start running along Ring I between Westendinasema, Pitäjänmäki and Itäkeskus, providing a direct bus service between Pitäjänmäki and Itäkeskus also on weekends
Service frequency of all tram routes will increase from every 12 minutes to every 10 minutes on Saturdays

The new tram route will connect Kalasatama and Pasila. The new route will improve crosstown transport links.

Light rail 15 will start running every 6 minutes at peak times.

The new bus route will provide crosstown service along Ring I as well as a direct service between Pitäjänmäki and Itäkeskus also on weekends.

Trams

Service frequency of all tram routes will increase from every 12 minutes to every 10 minutes on Saturdays.

On Sundays, the service frequency will increase from every 15 minutes to every 10.

We will add services in the morning peak.

The terminus of the bus route will move from Sompasaari to Herttoniemi: more crosstown services between Pasila and Herttoniemi. Daytime service frequency will increase to every 10 minutes on weekdays. On Saturdays, the service frequency will increase to every 12 minutes.

New route 971B will start running between Ruotsinkylä, Hyrylä and Kerava.
