How to activate the commuter benefit (auto-renewing season ticket)

1 You will receive an invitation by email

  • You will receive an email at your work email address inviting you to start using the commuter benefit. The invitation link is valid for 30 days, so we recommend completing the activation as soon as you receive the message, even if you do not need a ticket right away. This ensures that the benefit is ready to use when you need it or when your employer has set the benefit to become valid.
  • The message contains a confirmation code for activation. You will only need the code if you activate the benefit using a different email address other than the one the message was sent to.
  • The email also states the date on which your commuter benefit becomes valid. Please note that the benefit will only appear in the payment method menu of the HSL app and can only be used fron that date onwards.
  • You will receive the message even if the benefit is set to start at a later date. 
  • Please remember that the commuter benefit is a personal fringe benefit. 
  • Click Start using HSL Commuter Benefit to start the activation process.

Click  Continue to log in to open the login page.

3. Log in using your HSL account

If you already have an HSL account, log in using the email address and password associated with the account (usually your personal email address).

If you have forgotten the password linked to your HSL account, request a password reset link using the Forgot your password? link on the log-in page.

If you are not sure whether you already have an HSL account, you can check by entering your email address in the password reset function. This allows you to see whether an account exists for your work or personal email address.

Create a new HSL account only if you are certain that you have never had an HSL account before.

Once you have logged in using your HSL account, you will be asked to enter the confirmation code and the email address where you received the code. You will not need the confirmation code if

  • the email address associated with your HSL account is the same as the email address where you received the invitation
  • you have recently completed strong authentication for your HSL account

5 Complete strong authentication

To activate your HSL Commuter Benefit, you must complete strong authentication so that we can verify:

  • that you are the person for whom your employer intended the benefit;
  • that your home municipality is in the HSL area or one of the neighbouring municipalities; and
  • your home address, which is used to determine the zones on your ticket.

You can complete strong authentication using your online banking credentials or a mobile certificate.

 

 

6 Check the addresses and zones

Please make sure that your home address retrieved upon authentication is correct. 

Make sure also that the work address provided is for the office where you mainly work at.

If the information is correct, select Continue. If there is a mistake, you can edit the addresses.

Season ticket added

7 All done, the benefit has now been activated!

Please check that the zones assigned to you are correct. If the zones are not the ones you need for your commute, please contact your company’s HSL Commuter Benefit admin. The admin can edit the zones before you activate the ticket in the HSL app. 

NB! Do not buy a season ticket in the HSL app if the zones are incorrect. If you have already purchased a season ticket using your HSL Commuter Benefit, any changes made to the zones will only take effect with the renewal of your ticket after 30 days.

8 Buy a season ticket in the HSL app

Open the HSL app and log in using your HSL account.

Proceed to purchase an auto-renewing season ticket.

You can activate the ticket immediately or close the pop-up window. 

If no pop-up window appears, continue to purchase an auto-renewing season ticket. Select HSL Commuter Benefit as the payment method.

If you cannot see HSL Commuter Benefit in the list of payment methods, make sure you have the latest version of the HSL app. You can also try logging out of the app and logging back in again. If the payment method still does not appear, you can also try deleting the app from your phone and downloading it again from the app store.
