Instructions: HSL Commuter Benefit

If your commuter benefit is provided as an auto-renewing season ticket, you cannot also get a student discount at the same time. Student discounts are always temporary and cannot be applied to auto-renewing subscriptions.

You can purchase a student-priced season ticket using a flexible mobility budget. If you are eligible for a student discount, you can ask your employer to provide the commuter benefit as a flexible mobility budget, which can also be used to purchase a student-priced season ticket. If your mobility budget does not cover the full ticket price, you can pay the remaining amount using your own debit or credit card.

If you have been issued an auto-renewing season ticket as a commuter benefit and you have a valid student status in the HSL app, the app will display an error message.

To purchase a ticket using the HSL Commuter Benefit, you must change the consent settings for your personal data in the My Studyinfo service.

Do this:

1. Log in to the My Studyinfo service.

2. Under your name, select How is my data used from the drop-down menu.

3. Remove the permission to share your study information with the HSL app.

4. Log in to the HSL app again.

5. Select More → Settings → My information and then select Reauthenticate at the bottom of the page.

After this, the HSL app will allow you to purchase a season ticket using the HSL Commuter Benefit.

If a purchase limit is preventing you from buying a ticket, you can increase the limit or remove it completely.

Open the HSL app and go to More → Settings.

Scroll down to Payment → Purchase limits.

You can set a daily purchase limit between €10 and €50, or remove the limit entirely to purchase the ticket you need using the commuter benefit.

When you return to purchase a ticket, make sure HSL Commuter Benefit is selected as the payment method.

Yes. You can choose whether to start using your season ticket immediately or at a later date.

When purchasing the ticket, open the First payment menu.

Select the date on which you want the ticket validity period to begin from the drop-down menu.

Then select Confirm payment.

If you do not change the start date, the ticket will become valid immediately.

If your commuter benefit does not appear in the HSL app, make sure you are using the latest version of the app.

If updating the app does not help, log out of the app and log back in. You can also try removing the app from your device and downloading it again from the app store.

If the commuter benefit still does not appear among the available payment methods, check that your employer has activated the benefit and that your details are correct.
