New zone E to be introduced – what to do if you receive a commuter benefit or other tickets from your employer or another organization

According to the current plan, HSL will introduce zone E on 2 June 2026. Tickets for zone E will be available for purchase from that date. During the two-month transition period, it will still be possible to travel in zone E with a ticket that includes zone D. If you currently have a ticket that includes zone D, or if you will need zone E included in your ticket in the future, you may need to take action once the transition period begins. Instructions for different situations are provided below.

Do you use tickets paid for by your employer or another organization on an HSL card?

No need to travel in zone E? You don’t need to do anything.

  • If you have an ABCD, BCD, CD or D ticket purchased before 2 June 2026 and you don’t need to travel in the new zone E, you can continue using your ticket as before.

Need to travel in zone E? Change your ticket to one that includes zone E before 2 August 2026.

  • If you have an ABCD, BCD, CD or D ticket purchased before 2 June 2026, you can use it to travel in zone E during the transition period from 2 June to 2 August 2026.
  • If your ticket remains valid after 2 August 2026 and you need to travel in zone E, you can change your ticket free of charge to one that includes zone E (ABCDE, CBDE, CDE or DE). You can make the change at the HSL or a municipal service point, or by contacting HSL customer service by phone. From 2 August 2026, you must have a ticket that includes zone E when traveling in zone E.

Does your employer provide you with the HSL Commuter Benefit as an auto-renewing season ticket that you use in the HSL app?

No need to travel in zone E? You don’t need to do anything.

Need to travel in zone E and you have an ABCD, BCD or CD ticket?

  • Inform your employer as soon as possible after 2 June 2026 that you need a ticket that includes zone E. Your employer will change the zones of your ticket in the HSL Business Portal. From the start of the next 30-day period, you will have an ABCDE, BCDE or CDE ticket. During the transition period, from 2 June to 2 August 2026, you can travel in zone E with an ABCD, BCD or CD ticket. From 2 August 2026, you must have a ticket that includes zone E when traveling in zone E.

Need to travel in zone E and you have a single-zone ticket for zone D?

  • Your zone D ticket will be automatically converted into a DE ticket on 2 June 2026. If the DE ticket meets your travel needs, you don’t need to do anything. If you travel in zones C and D and do not need the DE ticket, please inform your employer as soon as possible after 2 June 2026. Your employer will change your ticket to a CD ticket, which will be valid from the start of the next 30‑day period.

Tip! The zone D tickets of employees living in Kirkkonummi, Siuntio, Sipoo, Kerava and Tuusula will be converted to DE tickets. If you want a CD ticket instead, inform your employer as soon as possible in June. The CD ticket will be valid from the start of the next 30‑day period.

Does your employer provide you with the HSL Commuter Benefit as a mobility budget or the HSL Business Travel mobility budget, and you buy tickets using the HSL app?

No need to travel in zone E? You don’t need to do anything.

Need to travel in zone E and you have an ABCD, BCD, CD or D ticket that expires before 2 August 2026?

  • You can continue to use your current ticket to travel in zone E until the end of the transition period, 2 August 2026. From 2 June 2026, you can buy tickets that include zone E in the HSL app using your mobility budget.

Need to travel in zone E and you have an ABCD, BCD, CD or D ticket that expires after 2 August 2026?

  • Contact your employer. A termination date for your current ticket will be agreed on between you, your employer and HSL Corporate Customer Service. We will refund your employer for the remaining days of validity. Your employer will then add the refunded amount to your mobility budget, which you can then use to buy a new ticket that includes zone E in the HSL app.
  • If you paid for part of the ticket yourself and part using mobility budget granted by your employer, you will be refunded for the remaining days of the portion paid by you at the daily price of a ticket that includes zone E.
