HSL public transport over May Day bank holiday 2025

On Wednesday 30 April, a Friday service will operate. The Metro will run two hours longer than usual and commuter trains will have additional services. On Wednesday 1 May, a Sunday service will operate. There will be additional services to Kaivopuisto.

Wednesday 30 April

  • A Friday service will operate.
  • Streets around the Market Square will be closed to traffic between 2pm and 8pm due to the crowning of the Manta statue.
  • A May parade organized by the Aalto University, approximately between 4pm and 4.40pm, may cause delays to traffic in the city center. The parade will go from Eteläinen Rautatiekatu via Arkadiankatu and Mannerheimintie to Eteläesplanadi.

 

The Metro will run two hours longer than usual

  • The Metro will run between Itäkeskus and Kivenlahti every 7.5 minutes until the end of service.
  • The last Metro services:
    • From Kivenlahti to Mellunmäki at 1.03am
    • From Kivenlahti to Vuosaari at 1.11am
    • From Vuosaari to Kivenlahti at 1.07am
    • From Mellunmäki to Kivenlahti at 1.15am

 

Additional I and P train services

  • I trains from Helsinki: 0.36am, 1.06am and 1.36am
  • I trains from Helsinki Airport: 1.04am, 1.34am and 2.04am
  • P trains from Helsinki:  2.18am, 2.48am, 3.18am and 3.48am
  • P trains from Helsinki Airport:  2.52am, 3.22am, 3.52am and 4.22am

 

May Day Thursday 1 May

  • A Sunday service will operate.

Additional services to Kaivopuisto

  • Bus 20 will have the following additional services from Munkkivuori: 9.18am, 9.38am, 9.57am, 10.15am and 11.07am.
  • Bus 20B will run from Kamppi approximately every 7 to 10 minutes between 10am and 8pm.
  • Tram 2B will run via Kaivopuisto, the Market Square and Central Railway Station between 9am and 9pm.
  • Tram 3B will run via Kaivopuisto, Viiskulma and Central Railway Station between 9am and 9pm.
  • Tram 10B will run via Kirurgi, Lasipalatsi, Runeberginkatu and Ruusulankatu between 9am and 7pm.
  • Trams 2, 3 and 10 will have more frequent service in the morning and evening, running approximately every 12 minutes.
  • Trams 2 and 3 will run to Kaivopuisto instead of the “Olympiaterminaali” terminus throughout the whole day.

 

Potential delays due to May Day marches

  • 11.15am to 12.15am: Traditional workers' May Day march in Helsinki: Hakaniementori – Siltasaarenkatu – Unioninkatu – Pohjoisesplanadi – Mannerheimintie – Kansalaistori
  • from 12 noon: “Vappu & Jeesus-marssi” (March for Jesus) Narinkkatori – Mannerheimintie – Eteläesplanadi – Fabianinkatu – Pohjoisesplanadi – Mannerheimintie – Narinkkatori
