Street work on Siltasaarenkatu – what was done
As part of the project, water and sewer systems and other old utility infrastructure were replaced on Siltasaarenkatu. Additionally, the tram tracks on Siltasaarenkatu between Hakaniementori Market Square and the Pitkäsilta Bridge were replaced, and new switches were installed at the intersection of Siltasaarenkatu and Hakaniemenranta. The new switches will enable the new light rail link to Laajasalo.
The work is part of the construction of the Kruunusillat tramway, which will connect Laajasalo, Korkeasaari, and Kalasatama to Hakaniemi in 2027.
