Changes to stop names in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Tuusula from Monday, 5 January

The names of certain bus stops will change on Monday, 5 January 2026. The stops are renamed to better reflect the surrounding area and to describe the location of the stops more accurately. We will rename stops, for instance, in Roihuvuori, Porolahti, Karakallio, Simonkylä, Leppävaara, Pasila and Otaniemi. Some names will be changed based on feedback and suggestions from passengers.

The stops are listed below by city, municipality and neighborhood.

The first name on the list, for example, “Porolahti, stop H4182”, is the stop’s previous name.

The stop numbers and locations will remain the same. Similarly, there will be no changes to the bus routes serving the stops. To see the exact location and the buses serving each stop, click on the stop number listed after the old stop name. The link will direct you to the stop in the Journey Planner.

Tuusula

Changes will be made within a short transition period

The stop names will be updated in the Journey Planner during Monday, 5 January.

However, updating the information at bus stops and for stop announcements may take a bit longer.

Espoo

Leppävaara

  • "Linnoitustie", stops E1115, E1128 and E1174.
The new name is ”Albergankartano”. Passengers may have confused the old name with the light rail 15 stops located on a different section of Linnoitustie, which have no direct transfer connection from these bus stops. The new name comes from the nearby manor building that serves as a landmark for the area.

Karakallio

  • "Karamäki", stop E1854.
The new name is ”Karakallionsola”. Passengers may have confused the old name "Karamäki" ("Karabacken” in Swedish) with the daycare center “Karamäen päiväkoti”, or with the Swedish name of the district, “Karabacka.” In addition, the name of the greenspace, “Karamäki,” which gave the stops their original name, is no longer in use. The new name describes the location of the stops in Karakallio more clearly.

Kilo

  • "Kilo", stop E1871.
The new name is ”Kilon terveysasema”. The new name describes the location of the stop more accurately. In addition, the new name distinguishes the stop more clearly from the interchange stops at Kilo train station, called "Kilon asema".

Otaniemi

  • "Täffä", stops E2236 and E2237.
Only the Swedish name will change. The new name in Swedish is ”Teknologföreningen”. Previously, the name of the stops was "Täffä” in both Finnish and Swedish. The stops are renamed based on customer feedback.

Helsinki

Pasila

  • "Vaihdemiehenkatu", stops H2183 and H2184.
The new name is ”Messukeskus”. There is no longer a street called “Vaihdemiehenkatu”. The new name will make it easier for passengers to find Messukeskus, which is a significant landmark in the area. There is also a tram stop with the same name near these bus stops.

Porolahti and Roihuvuori

  • "Porolahti", stops H4182 and H4183.
The new name is ”Kirsikkapuisto”. The stops are renamed based on customer feedback. The new name comes from the new names given to the nearby park and daycare center. The park is a regionally significant area, and we want to make it easier to find by changing the stop name. To ensure that passengers can find Porolahti easily also in the future, the nearby stops on the other side of the Porolahti residential area (previously called “Johan Sederholmin tie”) will be given the old name of the stops (“Porolahti”), which has been used to describe the area (see also the next paragraph). The new “Porolahti” stops are located along bus route 83 when traveling from Herttoniemi toward Tammisalo. They may make it clearer for those unfamiliar with the area which stop provides the easiest access to Porolahti by bus 83 or 82B.

  • "Johan Sederholmin tie", stops H4185 and H4186.
The new name is ”Porolahti”. When traveling from Herttoniemi toward Tammisalo, these stops are the only ones along bus route 83 that provide a direct link to the Porolahti residential area. The new name has been previously used for other nearby stops (see also the previous paragraph).

  • "Satumaanpolku", stops H4198 and H4199.
The new name is ”Iltasatu”. The City of Helsinki has divided Satumaanpolku into two separate sections. The section by the bus stops has been renamed “Iltasatu”. From now on, “Satumaanpolku” is the name of the section starting at Roihuvuorentie. The name is changed to correspond with the name of the street by the stops.

Vantaa

Korso

  • "Myyräkuja", stops V8321 and V8322.
The new name is ”Peltomyyränkuja”. The stops have been relocated on Otavantie, and they are currently located closer to Peltomyyränkuja. The name is changed to correspond with the name of the street by the stops.

Simonkylä

  • "Malminiitty", stops V6509 and V6510.
The new name is ”Simonkylän koulu”. The stops are renamed based on customer feedback. The new name provides a better description of the location of the stops.

Tuusula

Hyrylä

  • "Tuusulan kunta, vari.", stops Tu6550 and Tu6551.
The new name is ”Kilpailutie”. The old name did not describe the location clearly enough for those unfamiliar with the area. The new name is also linked to the Tuusula Sports Center on Kilpailutie, which is a significant landmark in the area.
