Tram routes diverted and possible delays to public transport on 13 June due to events

On Saturday 13 June, Finlandssvenska sång- och musikfesten may cause delays in the Helsinki city center from 2.10pm. In addition, tram routes 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be diverted from 2pm to 8pm due to the Helsinki Samba Carnaval.

Finlandssvenska sång- och musikfesten and the Helsinki Samba Carnaval will cause disruptions to public transport in central Helsinki on Saturday 13 June. Tram routes will be diverted, and delays are possible from 2pm.

 

Finlandssvenska sång- och musikfesten: impact on public transport

A parade related to the Finlandssvenska sång- och musikfesten will depart from Old Church Park (Vanha kirkkopuisto) and head to Kansalaistori Square on Saturday from 2.10pm. The parade will cause delays to tram services on Bulevardi, Mannerheimintie and at the intersection of Simonkatu and Kaivokatu.

 

Helsinki Samba Carnaval: impact on public transport

Tram routes 2,3,4 and 7 will be diverted from 2pm to 8pm due to the Helsinki Samba Carnaval. The parade will depart from Senate Square and proceed along Unioninkatu, Pohjoisesplanadi, Mannerheimintie,  Aleksanterinkatu and Mikonkatu to Kluuvikatu.

Trams 2 and 3 will be diverted via two separate routes.

First diversion: Tram 2 will run from Messukeskus to the terminus for tram route 1 in Eira via Mannerheimintie, Bulevardi, Fredrikinkatu, Laivurinkatu and Tehtaankatu. From the "Telakkakatu" stop, the tram will continue under route number 3 toward Kuusitie along the same route. 

Tram 2 will not serve the following stops: "Olympiaterminaali" (H0434), "Eteläranta" (H0432), "Kauppatori" (H0430), "Senaatintori" (H0405 and H0406), "Aleksanterinkatu" (H0403 and H0404), "Mikonkatu" (H0424 and H0425) and "Päärautatieasema" (H0301, Central Railway Station).

Second diversion: Tram 3 will run from Kuusitie to Olympia Terminal as usual. From Olympia Terminal, it will continue as tram 2 toward Messukeskus. The tram will run via Snellmaninkatu, Liisankatu and Kaisaniemenkatu to Kaivokatu, where it will resume its normal route.The Eira loop will be operated in one direction only (counterclockwise).

 

Tram 3 will not serve the following stops: "Olympiaterminaali" (H0434), "Kaivopuisto" (H0436), "Neitsytpolku" (H0438), "Kapteeninkatu" (H0440), "Eiran sairaala" (H0442), "Viiskulma" (H0815) and "Iso Roobertinkatu" (H0813).

Tram 4 will run via Central Railway Station, Liisankatu and Snellmaninkatu. It will not serve the "Ylioppilastalo" (H0401 and H0402), "Aleksanterinkatu" (H0403 and H0404) and "Senaatintori" (H0405 and H0406) stops.

Tram 7 will run directly via Kaisaniemenkatu. It will not serve the following stops:  "Snellmaninkatu" (H0454 and H0455), "Kansallisarkisto" (H0452 and H0453), "Hallituskatu" (H0450 and H0451), "Senaatintori" (H0405 and H0406), "Aleksanterinkatu" (H0403 and H0404) and "Mikonkatu" (H0424 and H0425).

The trams will serve all stops along the diversion routes.

On tram route 5, the last service from Katajanokka Terminal will be at 10.32am and from Central Railway Station at 10.44am.
