If you usually interchange in Hakaniemi and use the stops next to Hakaniemi Market Square, the walking distance between the Metro station and the tram or bus stops will increase significantly.
Where possible, we recommend changing at Sörnäinen instead of Hakaniemi, as the walking distance is shorter at Sörnäinen Metro Station. Some routes serving Hakaniemi Market Square also run past the Metro entrance on Toinen linja. Check the Journey Planner closer to the date for up-to-date information and route options.
We will add wayfinding signs at the station and at street level in Hakaniemi to guide passengers to the available accesses.

The escalators are being replaced ahead of the Metro service disruption caused by the replacement of the Junatie Metro bridge. During the disruption, Hakaniemi will be an important interchange between the Metro and bus services. We want to ensure that passengers can move through Hakaniemi Metro Station as smoothly as possible during the disruption.
The escalator replacement is expected to take seven months, and the new escalators will be in service before the Metro service disruption begins.
The station hall on the market square side will remain open during the escalator replacement
The station hall will be accessible via entrance D, using the stairs that lead from tram platforms 12–15 to the Metro station. Other entrances to the station hall will generally be closed during the work. There may be temporary changes to the station hall opening hours.
