The changes are part of a larger project

The track works carried out by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency are part of a project to increase the rail capacity between Helsinki and Riihimäki. The aim of the project is to increase the capacity of the busiest section of railway in Finland and reduce the line’s vulnerability to disruptions. Once the project is finished, the section of railway between Kerava and Riihimäki will have four tracks.
