Track work related to the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s Espoo Rail Line project will cause disruptions to train services on the Coastal Line in spring, summer and autumn this year. In autumn, services will be disrupted on five weekends in September and October. Two-day disruptions from Saturday morning to Monday morning will take place on 5–7 September, 19–21 September and 3–5 October. One-day disruptions will take place on Sundays 13 September and 27 September. Train services on the Coastal Line were disrupted for five weeks starting on 23 June. In spring, disruptions lasting about a day occurred mainly on weekends in May.
Westbound train services from Leppävaara will be replaced by buses. Buses 211E and 211U will replace E, U, L and Y trains between Leppävaara and Kauklahti. The buses will stop at all intermediate stations or near the stations. Bus 211U will only run in the early morning and late evening. Buses 248X and 249Y will run from Leppävaara along Turunväylä to Espoon keskus, from where bus 248X will continue to Kauklahti and bus 249Y to Kirkkonummi. Bus 213X will provide a fast connection along Turunväylä between Helsinki, Koivuhovi, Tuomarila and Espoon keskus. The replacement buses have open fare collection. Bicycles are not allowed on replacement buses because there is no space to carry them safely.

The replacement buses will depart from bay 15 in Leppävaara and from bay 26 at Elielinaukio in Helsinki. The timetables and routes for the buses are available in the Journey Planner.
Tuomarila station is closed from 22 June to 4 October due to construction work. During the closure, Tuomarila is served by regular bus services. In addition, buses 224K and 224X provide additional service, particularly to Koivuhovi and Espoo stations. Buses 224K and 224X will not operate during the autumn train service disruptions.
The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s Espoo Rail Line Project involves constructing two new tracks between Leppävaara and Kauklahti. Once completed, the rail link will improve the punctuality of commuter train services in Kirkkonummi and Espoo as well as the punctuality of long-distance train services in the direction of Turku. In addition, improvements are being made to Kilo, Kera, Kaunainen, Koivuhovi, Tuomarila and Kauklahti stations. The project started in spring 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in 2029.
