I and P trains will operate normally from Monday 5 October. The trains will run mainly every 10 minutes, except in the late evening and early morning. At Malminkartano, Kannelmäki and Pohjois-Haaga stations, the trains will use their usual platforms. Trains towards Helsinki Airport will depart from platform 1, and trains towards Helsinki will depart from platform 2.
Train services were suspended at Malminkartano, Kannelmäki and Pohjois-Haaga stations for the summer due to renovation work. At Malminkartano, train services were suspended from the beginning of May. Since 10 August, I and P trains have operated a reduced service between Huopalahti and Myyrmäki. Train services resumed at Malminkartano on 7 September, using a single track.
Renovation and finishing work may continue to affect access routes at the stations even after train services return to normal. At Kannelmäki station in particular, walking routes to the platforms are longer than usual because the pedestrian bridge over the tracks has been demolished. The new overpass is expected to be completed around the turn of the year.
Renovation work brings improvements to stations
During the disruption to train services, Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd carried out major renovations at Pohjois-Haaga, Kannelmäki and Malminkartano stations. The work involved repairs to the stations’ surface structures and load-bearing structures, as well as the electrified sections of the railway, which required train services to be suspended. The renovations will make the stations and their surroundings more functional, safer, more accessible and more welcoming. Work will continue at all three stations after train services return to normal. This may affect access routes at the stations, and passengers should take extra care, particularly on the platforms.
