The first service will depart from Vuosaari on Monday, 29 September, at 5.05am. The service will stop at Rastila at 5.06am. All the new timetables are already available in the Journey Planner (search routes using the date Monday, 29 September, or later).
Passenger satisfaction at a good level during the temporary arrangements
HSL has measured passenger satisfaction regarding the major traffic arrangements over the summer by means of digital surveys that were open throughout the duration of the disruptions. In addition to Vuosaari, surveys were also conducted on the temporary arrangements related to the construction of the Espoo City Rail Link and the disruption to tram services in Hakaniemi.
So far, we have received over 1,500 answers to the survey on the service disruption in Vuosaari. The feedback that passengers have given on the temporary arrangements during the disruption in Vuosaari has been consistently very positive throughout the entire disruption. In addition, several issues raised by passengers in the survey were also addressed based on the responses. For example, new signs were set up at Rastila Metro Station during the summer, particularly to guide those visiting the nearby camping area. A warm thank you to everyone who took part in the survey!
As regards the service disruption in Vuosaari, approximately 90 percent of passengers felt they received sufficient information about the temporary arrangements in advance. Around 87 percent of passengers felt that they understood why the arrangements were necessary, while as many as 89 percent felt they received enough information during the disruption to facilitate their traveling.
Additionally, approximately 79 percent of passengers felt they were able to reach their destination smoothly by public transport despite the disruption. Around 29 percent reported that, in addition to the service disruption in Vuosaari, some other major disruption within the HSL area also affected their travel at the same time.
The survey was specifically targeted at passengers living in the Vuosaari area and those using the Metro and replacement bus services.
We would like to thank all passengers for their patience and understanding during the service disruption!
Replacement bus route 99V will be withdrawn and the timetables for other buses serving the area will undergo changes

All the new timetables are already available in the Journey Planner (search routes using the date Monday, 29 September, or later).
The timetables for bus routes 90 and 96 and their arrival times at Vuosaari Metro Station will be adjusted from 29 September. The purpose is to align them better with the departure times of Metro trains towards Helsinki city centre during the hours of the day when the Metro operates less frequently.
In addition, some neighborhood bus routes in East Helsinki will resume operations under new operators on 23 September and 1 October. The services of the neighborhood bus routes were disrupted earlier in the summer due to the bankruptcy of the previous operator, Taksikuljetus Oy, in August 2025. Read more in our release.
Several improvements to Metro stations and tracks in the Vuosaari area during the summer
During the disruption, the Vuosaari Metro bridge and the tracks over Vartiokylänlahti between Rastila and Puotila Metro Stations were renovated entirely. Due to the renovation, trains were unable to cross the bridge or serve the stations on the eastern side of the bridge. The lifespan of the nearly 30-year-old bridge was extended by repairing cracks in the concrete structures and fixing water leaks in the deck slab. In addition, the bridge’s waterproofing and drainage systems were refurbished.
Several other improvements were also made to during the service disruption:
- Vuosaari Metro Station underwent a full renovation. The platform heating system was replaced and a fixed accessibility feature was installed in the floor. All escalators and the platform lighting were also renovated.
- At Rastila Metro Station, all lighting fixtures were replaced with energy-efficient LED lights. In addition, the bird control spikes and the surveillance camera system and station announcement speakers were replaced.
- The track switches that control Metro traffic were replaced west of Itäkeskus Metro Station. In April, May and August, a total of 13 switches and two track crossings were replaced. These upgrades will ensure smooth Metro services for years to come.
Metropolitan Area Transport Ltd was responsible for the renovation and refurbishment work.
Where can I find more information about the next traffic changes to take place in the Vuosaari area?
The renovation of the road tunnel between Vuosaari Harbour and Ring Road III will begin in January – traffic will be diverted for one year
A major renovation project will begin in the Vuosaari road tunnel on 6 January 2026, which means that the tunnel must be closed for safety reasons. During the renovation, the technical systems in the tunnel will be modernised and its structures repaired to ensure that the tunnel will remain safe for vehicles in the years to come. Fintraffic Oy is responsible for the renovation project.
During the tunnel renovation, which lasts for approximately one year, traffic will be diverted from Ring Road III via Itäväylä, Kallvikintie and Niinisaarentie to Vuosaari Harbour. This may cause traffic congestion, especially when ships are being unloaded at the harbour. You can find up-to-date timetables for arrivals and departures at Vuosaari Harbour on the website of the Port of Helsinki.
The renovation of the tunnel will not affect the bus routes in the Vuosaari area.
