Multi-user HSL cards to be discontinued from 21 September – Here’s what to do if your company is using these cards

Multi-user HSL cards will stop working on the evening of Sunday, 21 September. In the future, the easiest way to provide your employees with public transport tickets is through the HSL Business Portal. Your employees will be able to access their tickets via the HSL app. You can already request a refund for your company’s multi-user cards.

We recommend using any remaining value on your multi-user HSL cards as soon as possible. Multi-user HSL cards will stop working on 21 September at around 10pm.

Switch to the HSL Business Portal to provide your employees with tickets that they can use directly in the HSL app. The HSL Business Portal is an online service that allows companies and organizations to order, issue and manage their employees’ commuter benefits and tickets for work-related journeys. Employees can use the tickets and benefits issued through the portal in the HSL app without any delays.

What to do if your employees have used multi-user HSL cards for workday travel

Switch to using the HSL Business Portal. Through the portal, you can provide your employees with a mobility budget, which they can use to buy tickets using the HSL app.

Alternatively, you can order ticket codes, which your employees can use to redeem single or day tickets in the HSL app. You can order ticket codes either via the Business Portal or by email. See the instructions here.

Starting 24 September, you can order new single and day tickets through the HSL Business Portal.

What to do if multi-user HSL cards have been used for employees’ commuter benefits (non-resident season tickets)

Switch to the HSL Business Portal to issue commuter benefits to your employees as a mobility budget. You can freely choose the amount of budget you provide. Employees can then use the budget in the HSL app to purchase a non-resident season ticket for 30 or 360 days at a time.

In other words, if an employee has previously received a commuter benefit in the form of a non-resident season ticket on a multi-user HSL card, they will now get the same ticket via the HSL app. A non-resident season ticket is a season ticket intended for those living outside the HSL area.

How do I know if our HSL cards are multi-user cards?

All HSL cards used by companies are multi-user cards. These cards can either be unregistered or registered under the company’s business ID.  You can check here whether your card is a multi-user card. If you want to check the remaining value on the card, use a card reader or a ticket machine, or visit the HSL service point.

Why are multi-user HSL cards discontinued?

We are currently implementing a new ticketing backend system. As part of the project, we are simplifying our range of tickets. In the new system, there will no longer be separate multi-user and personal HSL cards.
