Changes to access routes on Helmakuja in Tapiola during weekdays from 8 November due to construction work

The upper level of Helmakuja that leads from Itätuulenkuja to Tapiola metro station and the bus terminal will be closed on certain weekdays between 9am and 6pm as of Monday 8 November. According to the current estimate, the level will be closed for one weekday every other week until February 2022. The lower level of Helmakuja, that is, the level of the bus terminal and vehicle traffic on Itätuulenkuja, will remain open and function as an access route.

Update: 

On Monday 7 March, the lower level of Helmakuja will also be closed. Access from the lower level to the metro and buses is via the Etelätuulentie side of the shopping center. 

The upper level of Helmakuja that leads from Itätuulenkuja to Tapiola metro station and the bus terminal will be closed on certain weekdays between 9am and 6pm. The upper level of Helmakuja is parallel to the first floor of the Ainoa shopping center. The lower level of Helmakuja, that is, the level of the bus terminal and vehicle traffic on Itätuulenkuja, will remain open and function as an access route. Metro station entrances G and H are located on Helmakuja. There is also a direct street level access route to bus terminal bays 10–11.

The changes are caused by nearby construction work. The area has separate signs for the replacement access routes. Additionally, there will be staff present to assist passengers and direct them to the fastest alternative route. The construction work will not affect bus or metro services.

When exiting a bus or the metro

When you exit a bus or the metro and wish to continue to Itätuulenkuja, use the doors leading outside from bus bays 10–11.

From the higher level of Itätuulenkuja

When you wish to get to the lower level of Itätuulenkuja from the higher level, use the stairs located beneath the residential building. You can use the elevator leading to the bus terminal when you wish to get to the lower level from the higher level, that is, from the first floor of the shopping center.

The shortest accessible replacement route to the bus terminal and metro from the higher level of Itätuulenkuja and Helmakuja is via Tuulikinsilta. The route runs along a corridor from Helmakuja toward Tapionaukio, that is, to the right when facing the AINOA shopping center.

Tuulikinsilta is the square next to the shopping center on the other side of the construction site. There is a separate door on Tuulikinsilta that leads to bus terminal bays 1–7. The door also functions as an entrance to the metro and platforms 10–11 through the shopping center.
