The street works that started in the spring will be moving to the next stage and there will be changes to the routes of trams and replacement buses from Monday 13 June. The improvement works on Runeberginkatu and Calouniuksenkatu will continue in Töölö. The construction of the Kalasatama–Pasila tramway will continue in Pasila. Street and track works will be conducted on Helsinginkatu at Sturenkatu.
The arrangements will be in place until 14 August.

Tram 1 to be diverted via Hakaniemi to Arabia
Tram 1 will be affected by all three major street and track work projects and it will be on a lengthy diversion via Hakaniemi to Arabia. Töölö, Helsinginkatu, Mäkelänkatu and Käpylä will not be served.
The tram will run from Eira via the Central Railway Station, Hakaniemi, Kallio and Sörnäinen to Arabia.
The section of route from Lasipalatsi via Mannerheimintie and Opera to Helsinginkatu will not be served. Arkadiankatu and Runeberginkatu are still not served due to street works.

The best place to get on bus 2X in the city center is the “Lasipalatsi” stop on Mannerheimintie in front of the Sokos department store (bay 53, H1903). From there, the bus will run along Mannerheimintie to Nordenskiöldinkatu, from where it will continue via Länsi-Pasila to Pasila station. In the direction of Pasila, another good interchange is the Opera (H1999).
At Pasila station, the bus will arrive at the “Pasilansilta” stop H2100 (bay 31), from where it will continue to the “Ratamestarinkatu” stop (H2166) on Asemapäällikönkatu.
In the other direction, the bus will depart from the “Ratamestarinkatu” stop (H2166) on Asemapäällikönkatu and stop at the “Junailijankuja” stop (H2165). At Pasila station, the bus will stop at the bus stop on Pasilansilta (bay 36, H2101) in front of the station.

Pasila will not be served. The diversion route from Helsinginkatu via Läntinen Brahenkatu, Aleksis Kiven katu and Traverssikuja to Jämsänkatu will be withdrawn.

In Itä-Pasila, bus 8x will run from Asemapäällikönkatu via Ratapihantie and Rautatieläisenkatu to Ratamestarinkatu clockwise (trams run the other way round). The departure stop (2358) is next to the station on the other side of Ratapihantie, under Opastinsilta.
The temporary terminus of bus 8X in front of the City Garden (Kaupunginpuutarha, H2363) in the direction of Jätkäsaari will no longer be served for traffic safety reasons. There are works underway in the area and turning to the right at the congested junction is even more difficult than usual.

Alternative transport links
Töölö
In addition to replacement bus 8x, Töölö is served by several bus routes.
Trunk bus routes 20 and 30 run along Topeliuksenkatu and Runeberginkatu to Kamppi (Fredrikinkatu) and to Eira.
In Kamppi, you can change to trams 7 and 9 in the direction of the Central Railway Station. Tram 7 continues via Aleksanterinkatu to Kruununhaka.
You can also change to tram 6 at Bulevardi.
Bus routes 37, 41, 42 and 69 run along Topeliuksenkatu and Runeberginkatu to the Kamppi bus terminal. The buses depart from bays 41, 42, 43 and 45 at the Kamppi local bus terminal. Bus 70 runs from the Opera along Runeberginkatu to the Kamppi terminal. At the terminal, the bus departs from bay 46.
Replacement bus 8X links with trams 2, 4 and 10 in the direction of the city center at the Opera. In the other direction, bus 8x links with the metro in Ruoholahti.
Bus 69 runs from Töölö to Pasila and replacement bus 2X runs from Mannerheimintie to Pasila.
Töölö/Opera – Sörnäinen
Replacement bus 8X and bus 70 from the Opera in the direction of Sturenkatu. Bus 502 from Kisahalli to Kallio.

In addition, short term diversions are expected throughout the summer. We will provide information about these about one week before each diversion.
Switch to autumn timetables on 15 August
The trams will resume their normal routes and replacement buses 2X and 8X will stop running on 15 August.
Changes to timetables
All tram timetables will change on 13 June, at the start of summer service on 20 June and at the start of autumn service on 15 August. Timetables for tram 5 will change when there are changes to the operation of passenger ferries.
The timetables of replacement bus 8X will change on 13 June and 20 June. The timetables of replacement bus 2X will change on 20 June.
Timetables are available in the printable timetables (separate timetables for the winter season until 19 June and for the summer season 20 June to 14 August) and in the Journey Planner about four weeks before they take effect.
Diversions and service changes will affect tram passengers throughout the summer. However, the various works are necessary to keep streets and tracks in good condition. Renovation of streets improve the traffic environment. Construction of new tramways improves service in the future.
