Updated on 19 April: Tram 7 will resume its normal route on Monday 22 April.

Tram routes 2, 5 and 7 have been diverted since 12 December 2023. The trams have been able to run along Mikonkatu only in one direction due to a problem in the switch control system. Cold winter conditions have prevented work on the problem.

The problem has now been fixed and tram 7 will be able to resume its normal route on Monday 22 April. Tram routes 2 and 5 will continue to be diverted until further notice.

Diversion routes of trams 2, 5 and 7 from 12 December

  • Tram 2 will run via Ylioppilastalo in the direction of the Olympia Terminal. The "Mikonkatu" and "Rautatieasema" (Central Railway Station) stops will not be served. In the opposite direction, i.e. in the direction of Pasila and Messukeskus, the tram will run as usual.
  • Tram 5 will change direction, which means that the tram will serve the stop located on the station side of the street at the Central Railway Station. There are also other changes affecting tram route 5 and passengers are advised to use the Journey Planner or check the displays at tram stops before embarking on their journey.
  • Tram 7 will run in the direction of Pasila and Meilahti via Ylioppilastalo. The "Mikonkatu" and "Rautatieasema" stops will not be served. In the direction of the West Terminal, the tram will run as usual. Starting Monday 22 April, the tram will begin serving the "Mikonkatu" and "Rautatieasema" stops also in the direction of Meilahti.
