West Helsinki Light Rail Project: new tramways, cycle paths and utility infrastructure
The West Helsinki Light Rail Project involves building and upgrading tramways, cycle paths and utility infrastructure in western Helsinki, as well as improving the street environment. On Runeberginkatu, the number of bus services will decrease in the future to around one-fifth of the current level as tram services increase. This will also create more space for pedestrians and cyclists. Read more about the West Helsinki Light Rail project on the City of Helsinki Infrastructure Programme website.
HSL plans public transport diversion routes and provides information about service changes. Add your favorite routes in the HSL app and enable notifications to receive updates as soon as they are available. Once the new tramway is completed, there will be changes to tram and bus routes in line with HSL’s West Helsinki Route Network Plan.
