Passenger transport survey at ports
The passenger transport survey at ports was most recently conducted in 2022. We studied where passengers travel from and which modes of transport they use when traveling to Helsinki’s passenger ports for a ferry journey.
Data was collected through face-to-face interviews.
Data collection was carried out by interviewing passengers departing on ferry journeys at the Olympia Terminal, Katajanokka Terminal, West Terminal and Vuosaari Harbour.
Foot passengers were interviewed in the check-in and waiting areas of the passenger terminals at West Harbour and South Harbour. At Vuosaari Harbour, journeys to the port made by foot passengers passing through the terminal were not examined in this survey. Car passengers were interviewed in the check-in and waiting lanes for passenger cars and vans.
The data is used in transport system planning and in updating the Helsinki region traffic forecast model.
The previous survey was conducted in 2015.
