Ticket type survey
Through the ticket type survey, we collect information on the types of tickets our customers use, the municipalities they live in, the distances they travel, and the feeder modes they use. The survey is conducted on modes of transport where passengers are not required to present a valid ticket to a card reader, that is, on the Metro, commuter trains, trams and trunk bus routes.
Ticket inspectors interview passengers while carrying out inspections. The sample size varies each year depending on the mode of transport studied and passenger volumes on the route. Data is collected evenly across different routes, directions and times of day. The survey is conducted mainly in autumn, and the collected sample is expanded to represent travel throughout the year.
We use the results for financial planning, to assess the impacts of route network changes, and in the planning and development of public transport.
