Buying tickets using the HSL app

In order to be able to buy season tickets using the HSL app, you must have a Finnish ID number and a permanent address in the HSL area, i.e. in Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, Vantaa, Kerava, Tuusula, Sipoo, Kirkkonummi or Siuntio. You also need online banking credentials for strong authentication. When buying a season ticket on the app for the first time, you must strongly authenticate using your online banking credentials. Authentication allows us to verify your home municipality.

When you buy a student season ticket on the HSL app, your student enrollment status and duration are verified electronically from the Koski service of the Finnish National Agency for Education. The app first takes you to the My Studyinfo service of the Finnish National Agency for Education to give HSL access to your enrollment information. You must agree to the the student discount criteria and the Terms of Use of the ticket on the app.

You can buy 30-day season tickets at a 45% discount. Single tickets are adult rate.

Student enrollment information is not always available electronically. If you are unable to confirm your discount entitlement directly on the app, you can visit a service point to update the discount entitlement on your HSL card and then buy a discount season ticket on your card.
