Zone E is here – how to travel in the new zone during the transition period

During the transition period from 2 June to 2 August 2026, you can still travel in zone E with a ticket that includes zone D. Please check whether you need to make any changes to your ticket during the transition period.

We have introduced the new zone E, which includes Järvenpää and the northern parts of Tuusula. You can now buy tickets for zone E.

Tickets that include only zone D have been removed from sale. To travel in zone D, you now need a ticket that includes at least zones CD or DE.

During the transition period from 2 June to 2 August 2026, you can still travel in zone E with ABCD, BCD, CD and D tickets.  During the transition period, card readers may show a warning about an invalid ticket, but you can still board.

The purpose of the transition period is to give customers time, if needed, to change their valid zone D tickets to tickets that include zone E before the end of the transition period. Some tickets that include zone D are automatically converted into tickets that include zone E. In some cases, you must contact HSL customer service during the transition period, while in other cases you can change your ticket yourself.

Please see below what you should do with your ticket.

These tickets will be automatically changed to tickets that include zone E.

  • An auto-renewing saver subscription for a ticket that includes zone D in the HSL app.
  • A 360-day ticket that includes zone D in the HSL app.

Please contact HSL customer service by 2 August if you have one of the following tickets
