Transport system studies

On this page, you can find out more about the various transport system studies carried out by HSL. We study the transport system across the HSL region to gain a comprehensive understanding of travel. In addition to public transport use, the studies also examine, for example, private car use, walking and cycling.

Continuous travel survey

We study the travel habits of residents in the HSL area through a continuous survey.

Travel habit survey

We study the daily journeys of residents in the Helsinki region: where people travel from and to, and which modes of transport they use. The travel habit survey provides basic data on travel behavior in the Helsinki region.

Passenger transport survey at ports

The main objective of the passenger transport survey at ports is to find out where passengers arrive from and which modes of transport they use when traveling to Helsinki’s passenger ports for a ferry journey.

Airport survey

We study where passengers arrive from and which modes of transport they use when traveling to Helsinki Airport, as well as where they go and which modes of transport they use after arriving from a flight.

Park & Ride survey

We study the use of Park & Ride facilities in the Helsinki region commuting area through a survey.

Regional Barometer

We study residents’ views on housing and travel in the region. The survey results are used in land use, housing and transport (MAL) planning.

Light rail 15 travel survey

We examined the direction of journeys in the catchment area of light rail line 15.

Vantaa light rail before-and-after study 

We study travel patterns in the catchment area of the future Vantaa light rail.

Travel habit survey

The travel habit survey is a map-based survey on destinations, travel behavior and travel needs. We primarily use the data collected from the survey for public transport planning and customer-oriented allocation of our services.
